The debate on cleaning your leftovers in restaurants like KFC, McDonalds and Ikea have been going on for years now in Malaysia. Half are saying that the people employed by these companies are paid to do so, the other half say it’s a courtesy for us to clean it up.

Most self-serve restaurants would at most require the customers to clean up after they are done with their meals, as you’d have to collect the food from a counter. However, for restaurants with table service, it is their employee’s job to clean the table after a meal.

Netizens are saying that big companies like McDonalds are charging their customers service charges and they’d have to clean up after themselves. Meanwhile, mamak restaurants and other local restaurants, there’s no service charge yet the table is cleaned up by their staff.
