Malaysian Human Resources Minister M Saravanan on Friday (Aug 19) said that the number of weekly working hours will be reduced from 48 to 45 adding that a series of announcements will be made in time.

The weekly working hours adjustment is supposed to start on September 1, according to the minister’s statement to the Upper House and it is based on amendments that were made to the Employment Act 1955.

The amendments are in line with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention and would allow employees to work flexible hours. They would be able to choose the location, time and days of work. Ye ke?
