First, they are flocking to Johor to take advantage of the cheaper food and hotel stay for their weekend fun, while local businesses are reaping the benefits of the Singing dollar, hiking their prices to accommodate for the influx of the higher-paid visitors.
Second, the Singaporeans are here to stay. They cite lower daily expenses and proximity to Singapore as key considerations for their decisions to settle in the southernmost state of Malaysia.
Though they are a small group of Singaporeans who have relocated to JB following the reopening of borders, it makes sense for them as being based in the state is more viable with the WFH culture still being in force in Singapore!
