Bung Moktar Radin an MP has been ordered to enter his defence on corruption charges, a Malaysian court ruled on Sep. 2 thus agreeing with the prosecutors that there is a prima facie case against him and his wife, Zizie Izette.
For the ruling Umno, there does not seem to be an end to the court woes after ex-PM Najib Razak went to jail and his wife Rosmah Mansor is now a convicted person with 10 years jail and a hefty RM970 million fine on her head.
The MP has been charged with three counts of accepting bribes totalling RM2.8 million (S$875,500) and according to reports, Bung Moktar allegedly committed the offences in 2015 when he was the non-executive chairman of FELDA, a Malaysian government agency that deals with rural issues. Zizie Izette is also accused of aiding and abetting all three offences.
