5 People Charged at Thailand & Malaysia Border for Cannabis Consumption

1 min read

It was informed in the Malaysian press that five individuals were charged for cannabis (Marijuana) consumption after testing positive for the substance in their system. The security and checks have increased ever since Thailand legalised cannabis consumption.

It is noted that if the substance was consumed in Thailand, then there will be no charges. However, if it was consumed in Malaysia, or if there’s no evidence if it was consumed in Thailand, then those tested positive for the substance can get into serious trouble.

Netizens asked questions whether the burden of evidence should be on the police, but replies stated that it would be different for drugs. Many are criticising the Malaysian border Police for arresting and charging the five people without solid evidence and proof that the substance was consumed in Malaysia.
