In today’s world of aviation, travelling has never been safer than it once was. A few decades ago, terrorist attacks on airplanes were the norm. Even Singapore Airlines was a victim to an aircraft hijacking, SQ Flight 117 back in 1991.
Recently, another Singapore Airlines flight received a bomb threat on the airplane. According to CNN, fighter jets had to escort the aircraft back to safety. The Singaporean army was mobilised immediately. The threat was made on a SQ flight to San Francisco.
It is still unclear why the airline received the threat, but the situation has been resolved and everyone is safe. The flight lasted around 16 hours and 25 minutes. This is not the first time in recent years where SQ had received bomb threats, they had dealt with it in 2019 and 2018.
