Prof Dr Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Hamid of a political analyst from Universiti Sains Malaysia stated that while the BN has been pushing for a snap election in order to reclaim a two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat, the reality indicates that no single coalition will be able to form a government on its own.
The analyst also states that no Federal Government in Malaysia has had a two-thirds majority since the GE12 with BN’s support dwindling since 2008, the year Anwar Ibrahim officially entered the election battle against the BN after his incarceration.
The professor also says UMNO and BN must face the reality that they will face a strong challenge in any election, as competition has become fiercer (than before) as our democracy has matured.
