Singapore stands ready to “robustly defend” its sovereignty over Pedra Branca or what Malaysia calls Batu Puteh and the tiny nation-state says it will deal with “whatever legal action” Malaysia may take.
Malaysian PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob launched the battle cry when he says Malaysia will be proceeding with legal action at the International Court of Justice or ICJ over its claim to Batu Puteh.
In a statement, Ismail Sabri blamed “possible negligence and mistakes” by former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad for Malaysia missing the “opportunity” to file a review application against the 2008 International Court of Justice ruling that Singapore has sovereignty over Pedra Branca.
