Shopee has lost quite a bit of their popularity among Malaysians, especially with their new found love of trying to allegedly swindle their customers. They are offering a credit service (Buy Now Pay Later) and are planning to charge a 1.5% service charge either monthly or on the whole sale price.
Many are claiming that they are scamming the consumers. Even credit card companies mostly charge 0% interest for a buy now pay later item. Furthermore, what annoyed netizens even more is that those that are currently using the service will also need to pay.
Usually when a new rule similar to this is out for a financial institution, they’d make sure the new structures would apply to new applicants/customers. Others are recommending to use GrabPay or any other service that would not charge extra for their services.
