The prosecution today filed an appeal with 15 reasons against the High Court’s decision that acquitted Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in connection with the case of the Overseas Visa System (VLN) and the one-stop centre, last September 23.
The UMNO president was acquitted of 40 charges of accepting bribes from a company to renew contracts related to the VLN system and one-stop centers in China.
15 reasons
According to sources, the petition lists 15 reasons why the Court of Appeal should cancel Ahmad Zahid’s release and order him to defend himself on the charge.
The appeal was filed at the Court of Appeal after the prosecution received the record of the appeal from the registrar of the Shah Alam High Court, last week. Previously, the Court of Appeal set the case management date for next January 10 while waiting for the record to be completed.
