Tesla is reportedly nearing a preliminary deal to build production facilities in Indonesia with a capacity of 1 million units, according to Bloomberg, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter. Indonesia’s investment minister confirmed talks with the world’s most valuable automaker, the report said. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, however, tweeted in response to the news, cautioning against taking articles citing “unnamed sources” as true. In November 2020, Musk stated that South Korea was among the top candidate locations for a factory it plans to build in Asia for making EVs.
