Giving Charity For Votes Is Corruption, Says Anwar

PAS Hadi Awang is now in a tight spot after being very confident that he will form the new government in November last year and now it is about his supporters giving charity for votes.

Thus, bribing voters is not a corrupt act? Nevertheless, PM Anwar says the act of distributing cash to voters during elections is tantamount to corruption – not charity as claimed by some.

“Giving alms is okay but to distribute cash for votes during the general election is tantamount to corruption,” he said in his speech at Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow’s Chinese New Year open house yesterday.
