Umrah agencies in Malaysia have been accused of reselling flight tickets provided by local airlines for the Holy Land at higher prices, contributing to the recent increase in the cost of performing Umrah.
Reselling Flight Tickets
The President of the Malaysian Umrah & Hajj Travel Agencies Association (PAPUH) said that Umrah flight tickets should only cost around RM2,700 to RM2,800 but are being resold by certain agencies for RM4,800 to RM5,000. He added that the ticket monopoly is causing several international airlines to raise their prices due to high demand.
He further said that around 120,000 flight tickets were resold in the previous year, and that the situation is getting worse as international airlines are also raising prices due to the high demand.
