Just one day after the party announced its 2020 and 2021 accounts, the MACC has frozen Bersatu’s party finances.
Two party accounts were blocked two weeks ago to aid investigations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act, MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki revealed.
According to a local news outlet, a MACC source ‘off the record’ says the account freezing was the result of claims that Bersatu received donations from about ten contractors who won various projects while the party was in power.

According to the source, the entire amount of contributions is believed to be greater than RM300 million, and the two Bersatu bank accounts now have a balance of about RM40 million.
