In a missive on the appointment of Nurul Izzah as the Economic, Financial Advisor, Dr Khairuddin Takiri says Islam allows such appointments based on historical facts during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
He writes that Nurul Izzah qualifications and role as an ex-MP is sufficient and qualifies her for the job altogether, adding that the appointment without salary, eliminates any potential conflicts of interest and the notion of nepotism.
Takiri Says
“Merit and qualifications, not family ties, should be the primary factors in appointments. The appointment of Usamah bin Zayd as a young general to lead the Islamic army against Rome, despite being the son of an adopted son, is a testament to this principle,” he suggests.
