Clamp Down on Illegally Modified Motorcycles

1 min read

Transport officials are cracking down on illegally modified motorcycles with no rear brakes, which pose a significant danger to riders and other road users and the Transport Department says 39 motorcyclists were found to have removed their rear brakes for quicker acceleration.

Offenses found in an operation also included non-compliant number plates, missing side mirrors, modified exhausts, and ill-fitted tires.

Motorcycle owners have been given 14 days to bring their bikes back to factory specifications or face cancellation of ownership and auction of the vehicles.
