The Malaysian government is cracking down on fake job scams targeting its citizens. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Communications and Digital Ministry and the Royal Malaysia Police are tightening laws to protect citizens from being conned by overseas syndicates.

These syndicates often lure victims with fake job ads on social media and once the victim agrees, their travel documents and phones are seized and they are forced to work as scammers or in online gambling operations.

The Prime Minister urged Malaysians to be vigilant and not fall for these deceptive schemes.
