A military rescue dog from Mexico, named Proteo, died while searching for earthquake survivors in Turkey and this has got the Mexican military to mourn the dog, hailing it as a hero.
The German shepherd was one of over a dozen rescue dogs dispatched by Mexico to aid in the search and rescue operations after the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that killed over 35,000 people.
Proteo was remembered by one of the rescuers who served alongside him as “always a strong, hardworking dog who never gave up.”
