The National AMANAH Law Bureau warns that PAS President, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, could face five years imprisonment for openly attempting to overthrow Malaysia’s Unity Government.
Hadi Awang could be headed for prison?
Chairman Dr. Zulqarnain Hakim states that actions against the Constitution and parliamentary democracy can be prosecuted under Sections 124B to 130A of the Penal Code, which covers undermining democracy, sabotage, and espionage. These offences carry penalties ranging from five years to life imprisonment.
Zulqarnain believes opposition leader statements are false, as Parliament’s confidence vote proves the Unity Government has a two-thirds majority support. False statements can be punished under Section 124I with up to five years imprisonment. The PAS leader is currently under investigation for his claims that the Bersatu and PAS coalition is working to overthrow the government.
