Johor needs RM168 million for initial road and landslide repairs due to major floods since February 28th. Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh, the Chairman of the Johor Works, Transport and Infrastructure Committee, said that reports on damages had been submitted with an application to the Federal Government.
Landslides in Johor
Identified landslide locations include Jalan Ulu Tiram and FELDA Chemplak in Segamat, with 36 landslide locations reported in local authority areas. Repairing the landslides requires technical studies, ensuring solid and dry soil structure, which takes at least seven months.
On March 6th, more than 50 road damages were identified due to floods in eight severely affected districts. The state has applied for Ministry of Finance allocations to fund the repair work immediately, with the cost of RM168 million expected to increase as many areas remain affected.
