A conspiracy involving human smuggling syndicates in Malaysia enabled thousands of Filipino illegal immigrants to infiltrate Peninsular Malaysia via commercial flights over five years ago. The immigrants were provided with authentic MyKad identification cards belonging to local citizens, allowing them to pass airport security.
Elaborate Human Smuggling Scheme
The human smuggling scheme of illegal migrants into Malaysia was reportedly masterminded by two women who managed the transportation and purchase of plane tickets using genuine MyKad identities.
It is believed that bribes were given to security personnel at the airport to ensure smooth operations. The syndicate also provided specific travel timetables, counters, and routes to facilitate the illegal immigrants’ passage.
