UMNO’s New Leadership Brings Stability To Coalition Government

New UMNO leadership can bring stability to the coalition government, said a political analyst. Professor Dr Azmi Hassan said that the majority of the new leadership is from the group led by Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister. 

UMNO bringing in fresh faces

He added that the newly elected leaders will be able to carry out the direction of the President with ease, which will indirectly affect the coalition government. Additionally, almost 30% or 54 new faces who won their respective divisional chief positions, beating former candidates, indicate that the party members want a new direction in the party’s leadership. 

Meanwhile, another political analyst, Professor Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani, believed that the new party leadership could stabilise the party, which will be crucial in determining the stability of the Pakatan Harapan government.
