A 14-year-old student has become the youngest individual to pay business zakat of RM10,000 to the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK). Putri Mumtaz Sunnafis Luthfiya Mustamaman, who is also the founder of a food product, visited the MAIK office last Thursday to make the zakat payment.

The payment was then handed over to the Head of Zakat Officer of MAIK, Ameer Azeezy Tuan Abdullah. The student said she felt responsible to pay the zakat, after her business generated sales of RM400,000 within four months of its launch in September last year.

She started the business through the TikTok application and expanded her product sales by taking on agents. Her aunt expressed her pride in her niece’s actions and hopes that other entrepreneurs will follow her example in paying zakat.
