Dr. Mahathir Mohamad claimed that Malays became impoverished after he resigned as prime minister, despite his efforts to improve their conditions after the 14th General Election (GE14). The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government was overthrown.

In lieu of that, he lost his position as Prime Minister (PM). Tun Mahathir, who served as the PM twice for a total of 22 years under the BN government and 22 months with PH in 2020, alleged that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership hindered efforts to educate Malays through the Malay Proclamation event. He mentioned that Malays had become very poor after he relinquished his position as prime minister.
The event launch, scheduled for March 9 at a Kuala Lumpur hotel, invited him as an honorary guest to discuss issues related to the Malay community. The government silenced Malays, according to Mahathir, following the cancellation of the event location reservation.
