Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, has assured the public that the supply of raw chicken across the country will be sufficient until the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at the end of next month.
Chicken supply must be there for Hari Raya
The minister urged the public not to worry, as data shows that the supply will be adequate. He also rejected claims by some traders that a shortage of chicken supply is causing price hikes, which he said is unacceptable. Nonetheless, Salahuddin emphasised that every complaint to the KPDN is taken seriously, and if such a problem arises, people and traders are asked to report it to the KPDN.
He also advised traders to comply with the government’s controlled pricing policy, which sets the ceiling price for chicken at RM9.40 per kilogram. The KPDN has directed its enforcers to monitor the market closely throughout Ramadan and until after Hari Raya Aidilfitri to ensure consumer welfare.
