Balenciaga’s new Leopold Ballerina pumps have raised eyebrows with their unique style, a departure from the brand’s signature bulky footwear. Available in turquoise, black or light beige, the $925 slip-ons are made of satin and feature a bow on the rounded toe and an intentionally worn-out effect.
The pumps have been seen in various looks from the Summer 2023 “The Mud Show.” Other designers, including Kiko Kostadinov and Simone Rocha, have also ventured into ballet-inspired footwear. The pumps challenge traditional gender norms by offering styles in a range of sizes.

Netizens are also talking about Balenciaga’s destroyed look. It is a sharp contrast to their recently released satin ballerina flats for men. However, the critical reviews tend to stick to the destroyed looks that the luxury brand commonly offers.
A netizen states that they would gladly recreate this look for the same amount of money. Another states that you can place a pair in a pond for a month and expect to see the same results.
It is common to see them making peculiar items such as these. Most luxury brands have their own identity and signature. For the Spanish origin luxury brand, their identity is to be out of the norm, or as the saying goes, “anti-fashion.”
