Desperate Taxi Driver Walks 312KM to Demand EPF Withdrawal

Taxi driver Norazlan Ismail, 49, has embarked on a 312-kilometer journey on foot from Skudai Toll in Johor Bahru to Istana Negara to ‘force’ the withdrawal of his EPF contribution. He hopes to draw the attention of the government, particularly PM Anwar Ibrahim, to the plight of individuals like himself who need the money to survive.

A Desperate Taxi Driver!

Norazlan, who separated from his wife due to financial difficulties, believes that a targeted withdrawal of RM10,000 to RM30,000 would help him rebuild his family. A taxi driver and a driver for a Datuk in JB, he lost his income during the pandemic, leaving him in debt.

Norazlan’s mission is to raise awareness of the importance of EPF withdrawal for people like him who are struggling to make ends meet despite their best efforts to save.
