Manchester United’s players have been told to perform like “machines” by their coach, Erik ten Hag, who believes that anyone who can’t meet his demand for relentless hunger isn’t fit for the club.
Ten Hag’s remarks
Ten Hag’s remarks come after the team’s 2-0 defeat by Newcastle on Sunday, during which he and player Luke Shaw claimed that their opponents wanted to win more. In the upcoming game against Brentford, United will be looking to avenge their 4-0 defeat in the previous fixture.
Although Ten Hag recognizes that performance can fluctuate and that people are not robots, he thinks his team can be machine-like. Manchester United demands a high level of consistency from its players, and they must meet the required standards.
The coach warned that any player who cannot perform to his expectations is in the wrong place. When asked about the possibility of making changes to the team in the summer, Ten Hag said he trusted his players and was confident they would deliver good performances and the best results. He believes that his team has demonstrated their capability to win big games, such as against Arsenal, Liverpool, and City, and they have shown it many times.
