A Special Team Investigate Cases of Insult against Religion, Race and Royals

PDRM, the Royal Malaysian Police, now has a special team to investigate cases related to insults against religion, race, and royal institutions (3R). The team was set up on March 22 and is led by the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, and operated by the elite Crime Investigation Unit of D5 JSJ.

Objective of the Special Team

The objective of the special team is to ensure prompt investigation and submission of findings to the Attorney General’s office within seven days.

Seven investigation papers on 3R cases were opened from March 27 to last Thursday, with four of them related to insults against royal institutions, two involved religion, and one had elements of racial issues. So far, two individuals have been detained for insulting the royal institution and racial issues, while another is being traced.
