Chanel’s tough criteria
The global fragrance giant has reportedly stopped selling its perfumes at Michies Pharmacy in Aberdeen due to concerns about the run-down state of the city’s Union Street. According to reports, Chanel was unhappy with the surrounding businesses on the major shopping street and decided to end its account with the local pharmacy that they’ve been dealing with for decades.
The move came to light during a row over a nearby takeaway opening up, with Michie’s PR manager revealing that the luxury brand had closed their account “years ago” citing the issue with the surrounding businesses not meeting their brand criteria. This has raised concerns that other luxury brands may also consider abandoning the city center street due to similar concerns.
