The owner of Mydin hypermarket, Ameer Ali Mydin, expressed concerns about the additional public holiday during Aidilfitri, stating that it will impose unnecessary financial burden on businesses. Mydin set to lose money for extra public holidays
He mentioned that many businesses, including the hypermarket, have already incurred losses of half a million Ringgit Malaysia due to the announcement of the additional holiday. Ameer suggested that the funds used for the holiday could be better utilized, such as by lowering the prices of Menu Rahmah and other goods, which would benefit more people.
He emphasized that the government should prioritize the people’s welfare over populism. Ameer also commented on the toll exemptions during the Aidilfitri period, stating that not all travelers require such subsidies and those who can afford to pay should do so.
