MACC has seized two bank accounts belonging to political party Bersatu, after submitting an order to the banks involved under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA 2001).

Bersatu had questioned why its accounts, held in CIMB Islamic and AmBank, were still frozen after the 90-day period had expired, and it had not been charged with any offence.
Bersatu Accounts
The accounts were frozen on January 12 and 13 to assist investigations into suspected illegal proceeds, and were seized on April 11 in relation to charges against Bersatu’s president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin.
