Datuk Mahfuz Omar, Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Kedah, has reminded Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Chief Minister of Kedah, to pay the RM120,000 compensation awarded by the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya. Mahfuz pointed out that Muhammad Sanusi has not yet settled the claim, despite the 14-day payment period given by the judgment.
Datuk Mahfuz reminding Kedah Chief Minister on compensation
Mahfuz emphasized that Muhammad Sanusi should pay immediately, as the High Court had previously granted him a 14-day period from the date of judgment, and he had only requested a deferment to file an appeal at the Court of Appeal. Mahfuz also posted a video on Twitter to humorously remind Muhammad Sanusi about the compensation.
On April 3, Muhammad Sanusi’s defamation appeal against Mahfuz was dismissed, and Mahfuz’s application to increase the compensation amount from RM50,000 to RM120,000 was granted. Mahfuz had filed a lawsuit on October 9, 2019, based on a defamatory Facebook post made by Muhammad Sanusi on July 30, 2019, linking Mahfuz to the issue of relocating a Sports Toto outlet.
