Cell AgriTech is building Malaysia’s first cultivated meat production facility (lab-grown meat) in Penang, set to start producing lab-grown meat within two years. The process of growing meat in a lab is more environmentally friendly than traditional farming, requiring less land and reducing carbon emissions associated with logistics.
Lab-grown Meat?
Livestock farming is responsible for 14.5% of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions, largely due to feed production and animal digestion. Cell AgriTech founder Jason Ng claims the process uses less land, water and produces less waste, and will extract cells from a single animal to create meat products for consumers.
