The Deputy President of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, has emphasized that the organization of the Prime Minister’s Hari Raya open house in six states, including by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Cabinet Ministers, should not be politicized.
Hari Raya open houses
He stated that the open house events are meant for the country’s leadership to interact with the people in a friendly manner. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has decided to hold the open house event outside of Kuala Lumpur this year, deviating from the customary practice of hosting it at his official residence on Hari Raya morning. The events will take place in Kedah, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Selangor on different dates in April and May.
Datuk Seri Salahuddin, who is also the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, urged the opposition not to be jealous and politicize the open house events, as the focus should be on the people being cared for by their leaders during these events.
He emphasized that the people come to interact with the leaders in a friendly manner, and politicizing Hari Raya is unnecessary. This statement comes in response to criticism from the Chief Minister of Kedah, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who deemed the open house event as inappropriate and costly, citing cost-saving measures emphasized by the federal government in the past.
