A group of villagers in Koskan Tambahan, Serendah, Selangor, who have lived there for over 40 years, are urging Selangor’s Chief Minister, Amirudin Shari, to intervene and delay the eviction notice they received.

Selangor villagers plead for help

They were ordered to leave by May 2, after receiving a court order on April 18. The villagers gathered at the SUK building in Shah Alam to hand over a memorandum to Norbaini Zainuddin, an assistant secretary, asking the government to stop the eviction and facilitate negotiations between them and the developer.

They demand that the government resolve issues such as land allocation to developers, despite the villagers’ prior requests being denied. The villagers are unhappy with the eviction notice and want temporary protection from the state government. S Arutchelvan, the Deputy Chairman of PSM, was present with the villagers and emphasized that the issue requires a political resolution.
