Kelantan’s PAS Youth To LEARN About CLEANLINESS Management In Penang

1 min read

The youth wing of PAS in Kelantan was invited to visit Penang after they expressed concerns about cleanliness and development issues in their state. Faiz Fadzil, assemblyman for Permatang Pasir, welcomed the visit, proposing a learning session in George Town, the ASEAN’s cleanest tourist city in 2022.

He believes that understanding local authorities’ cleanliness management could help Kelantan’s sustainable development. Penang has the highest recycling rate in Malaysia and aims to increase it to 70% by 2030. Penang’s treated water is among the cleanest and safest in the country, and the Raw Water Contingency Plan will increase raw water capacity by 569 million liters per day by 2030.

Faiz refuted claims that Penang was no different from Kelantan and emphasized Kelantan’s waste management and governance issues. Penang’s economy is growing rapidly, recording the highest growth rate in the country at 7.1% in 2021, contributing 7.1% to the GDP, and attracting RM76.22 billion in investment in the manufacturing sector in 2021.
