Two leaders of the former government, Perikatan Nasional (PN), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, were reminded to comply with the warnings from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers to prioritize the stability of the country over their own political interests.
PN in controversy again
This reminder was voiced by DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, who also urged PN leaders such as Muhyiddin and Abdul Hadi to declare their respective parties’ compliance with the warning. This is for them to avoid any plans to overthrow the Unity Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the next five years.
This reminder was in line with the King’s speech during the opening of the 15th Parliament in February, and is a test of whether political leaders are willing to put aside their personal and political interests for the sake of the country. The Sultan of Johor also expressed concern over the stability of the government and urged for the well-being and prosperity of the nation to be prioritized.
