Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s 1MDB corruption trial involving RM2.28 billion has been postponed due to his bout of diarrhea. The trial was scheduled to take place today and tomorrow, but Najib was granted two days’ medical leave after experiencing abdominal pain and diarrhea.
According to Dr. Mohd Hafiz Mohd Hoshni, a medical officer at Kajang Prison, Najib was referred to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for treatment. Hafiz further stated that our former Prime Minister was unable to attend the trial due to dehydration, fatigue, and the need for a drip in his bloodstream.
Najib Razak’s diarrhea scandal
Netizens are calling out Najib Razak for saying that he has diarrhea. They claim that he is on the same boat as “abah” referring to Muhyiddin Yassin. Others are suggesting that he take a dosage of Imodium in order to curb the issue.
There were a number of inappropriate prison jokes directed towards our former Prime Minister regarding this situation. Others did show concern towards his health asking if it was the food that disagreed with his stomach or maybe he had developed some health issues while in jail.
Judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah subsequently postponed the proceedings until Thursday. Najib is facing four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering involving 1MDB, a state investment fund, of which he was the chairman of the advisory board.
