Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, it is happening. There are plans for the government to fully ban plastic bags by 2025. This is due to the environmental impact that it has to our world. Furthermore, to those that deem themselves as fashionable, it would most definitely ruin their outfit of the day.

Banning plastic bags by 2025

Mind you, 2025 is barely two years away. However, it does seem that we are using less and less plastic bags anyways. Now, the encouragement for those to bring their tote bags and straw bags during grocery shopping will definitely be increased. Netizens also state that Malaysia is in the top 3 when it comes to waste.

Following that, netizens are stating that retailers will proceed with using more paper bags, hence more trees will be chopped off. In response to that statement, another netizen states that there are an array of options such as compostable bags, cotton bags, etc. These could also be another option for consumers to choose from when they are shopping.

Another user suggests that the country follows Dondondonki’s policy of bringing your own reusable bag when shopping with them. Or else, you’d be forced to purchase their reusable bag no matter what. Thus, this will encourage consumers to bring their own bags when shopping, but it does seem quite extreme.
