FedEx,
FedEx-EV for the future of sustainability

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has announced the addition of electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet in Malaysia as part of its ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable logistics.

The company successfully incorporated two EVs for parcel pick-up and delivery operations in the Klang Valley, with plans to expand its EV fleet further. By introducing zero-tailpipe emissions vehicles, the company aims to contribute to a reduced carbon footprint and improved air quality in urban areas.

Benefits of EVs

Tien-Long Woon, the managing director of FedEx Express Malaysia and Thailand, emphasized the company’s recognition of the benefits of EVs in reducing CO2 emissions and its commitment to integrating them into operations.

This move aligns with the Malaysian government’s strong commitment to promoting EVs as a means to mitigate climate change effects and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. With its three-decade presence in Malaysia, it aims to showcase leadership in sustainable business practices while delivering high-quality products and services to customers.

The company has already deployed EVs throughout the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa region, including the largest EV fleet in China. The company has also conducted EV tests in India, Thailand, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates as part of its efforts to advance emissions reduction goals.

 Vehicle Electrification at FedEx Express

Vehicle electrification plays a vital role in this effort, with a goal of operating an all-electric global pickup and delivery (PUD) fleet by 2040. By 2025, FedEx Express aims to purchase 50% of all new PUD vehicles as electric, increasing to 100% by 2030.

In addition to vehicle electrification, FedEx adopts a comprehensive approach to resource management, focusing on reducing, replacing, and revolutionizing operations. This includes fuel savings initiatives, investments in renewable energy, and the implementation of sustainable packaging solutions.

As FedEx celebrates its 50th anniversary, this initiative reflects the company’s dedication to creating a better world and delivering sustainable results for customers, communities, and the planet. For more details on FedEx’s sustainability goals, refer to the company’s latest ESG Report.
