A MACC officer and a businessman, known as “Datuk Roy,” have been charged with soliciting and receiving bribes amounting to RM640k. The bribes were allegedly given as an inducement to prevent the remand of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s son during the MACC’s investigation.
Penalty of 20 Years Jail
The court set bail for the accused and scheduled a mention date for the case. The MACC prosecuting officer requested that the case be jointly tried with other bribery charges. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, which carry a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine.
Who Gave The RM640k?
The charges include soliciting RM400,000 from one individual and accepting RM240,000 from another. But who gave the money?
