It appears that Communications Minister, Fahmi Fadzil stated that Telegram is not in corporation with the government after several requests to remove certain content. The content in question is related to lewd and possibly illegal content that is thriving among Malaysians.
Telegram says NO to Malaysian Government
There appears to be a shadow economy of pornography, illegal substances and scams that are going on the platform. Our Communications Minister states that Telegram will be subjected to action if this request is still ignored. Would this mean a temporary or permanent banning of the communications app?
Some users state that the app has to respect the Malaysian government. Furthermore, the user states that the app will have to face the necessary consequences if they do not comply with the government. However, there are those who oppose such movements citing that force is never a good way to resolve issues.
