Anwar Ibrahim has demanded an apology from former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, accusing him of defamation. Anwar presented evidence of a debt waiver plan he signed for Felda settlers.
The Finance Ministry confirmed the signing of the Assignment for Financial Service Reserve Account (FSRA) on June 26, which includes a government guarantee of RM9.9 billion to restructure Felda’s debts through sukuk bonds and revolving credit.
Anwar urges the ex-PM to apologize, citing the evidence of the debt waiver plan as proof of his claims. The situation adds to the political tension between the two figures on July 20. Meanwhile, Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad, the ex-PM’s former private secretary, claimed that the document or proof from Anwar is an agreement on government-backed sukuk that was being issued in phases. Which is which?
