Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay stated that the police only received reports about The 1975’s disrespectful antics at the Good Vibes Festival 2023 in Sepang after the band had left the country for the UK. He refuted allegations of police inefficiency, noting that the band had departed within six hours after the concert was stopped on July 21.

The first police report was received the next day at 2 pm. The case is still under investigation under various sections of the Penal Code and Minor Offences Act, with 13 statements taken from complainants, organisers, and other relevant parties.
