Jordan Henderson bid an emotional farewell to Liverpool as he trained with his new club, Al-Ettifaq, during their training camp in Croatia. The Reds’ captain was seen in a training session with Steven Gerrard’s squad in Croatia, finalizing the formalities of his controversial transfer.
Liverpool sending Henderson to Al-Ettifaq
Al-Ettifaq has offered the 33-year-old a lucrative £700,000 weekly deal to end his highly successful career. Henderson agreed to a three-year contract with the Saudi club, potentially including an option for a third year. Later, on Instagram, he expressed gratitude to Liverpool fans, stating that he will always be a Red.
The transfer has sparked criticism, particularly from Liverpool’s official LGBT+ fan group, given Henderson’s previous support for the LGBT+ community. Klopp’s midfield plans have been disrupted, with the potential departure of Fabinho to Al-Ittihad, and Liverpool’s interest in Southampton’s Roméo Lavia for a midfield overhaul this summer.
