The Unity Government will continue to maintain the quota system in all public higher education institutions (IPTA) in the country to preserve the social justice that has been practised since independence. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the Unity Government risks losing in all upcoming elections if they were to abolish the quota system for admissions to IPTAs.
END IPTA?
He emphasized that demands to abolish the system would only plunge the country into turmoil, as this issue must be viewed in the context of the nation’s history and social contract. “If you want to satisfy yourself, Anwar Ibrahim says today to cancel the quota system, and we will lose all elections in this country, and you will suffer more in this country under the rule of PAS and Bersatu… That must be understood.”
