The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is optimistic about a swift recovery in local white rice production through its specialized program. Minister Mohamad Sabu has unveiled a series of measures, including instructing rice millers to boost production by 20% as a short-term fix.

Additionally, there are plans to convene engagement sessions with key stakeholders in the padi industry to discuss strategies for increasing rice production and addressing labelling issues, working closely with the Ministry of Domestic Trade.
This initiative aims to ensure a steady supply of locally grown rice within the country and combat the exploitation of higher prices for imported rice.
