European clubs demanding payment guarantees
Furthermore, Saudi clubs now account for 11% of total yearly sales in Europe’s top divisions, totaling €878m. Concerns about non-payment have been raised at the European Club Association’s general assembly, and clubs are seeking leverage over their Saudi counterparts to protect themselves.
These concerns have arisen despite the fact that UEFA’s financial licensing regulations may not apply to deals outside Europe.
