Previously, Swatch had collaborated with Omega to produce the moonswatch. The hype for these watches are still there. However, Swatch has also decided to collaborate with Blancpain, which is considered as one of the oldest Swiss watch makers in the entire world.
Blancpain x Swatch causing controversy
Mind you, it is a beautiful watch. However, at RM1,700 for a plastic watch, many might not want it. Swatch is labeling the watch as bioceramic, similar to their Omega collaboration, but others state that the previous one already feels like plastic.
Regardless, this collaboration is meant to rope in aspiring new collectors to the watch game. A typical Blancpain watch would set you back more than RM40,000 per watch. However, you can now get one with a similar look for below RM2,000, to which most watch enthusiasts find respectable.
